These cats are in need of a foster or forever human bestie to share a home with
We are a small organization with limited equipment, space, and funding. We can only help a very limited number cats off the street at a time (unless there is a pre-arranged home) which is why you will never see more than just a few cats listed here at a time. We do not have a publicly accessible shelter. Adoptable cats are in foster care and may be met virtually. Please remember these cats come from survival mode outside and may come with some baggage, and will require time and patience to be comfortable around new humans. Our adoption fee is $200.00 and this typically includes sterilization, Rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, and microchip. Thank you very much for your interest, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Adoption or foster application form link is below the cat’s information.
Our cats:

Name: Cheddar
Sex: male (neutered)
Breed: domestic shorthair
Colour: orange tabby
Estimated Age: 12-14 years
Rescued from Feline Dystopia on: August 22, 2025
Cheddar is a community cat who lived on the property of the Royal Ontario Museum and University of Toronto, and took shelter beneath the old planetarium building for over ten years. He’s well known, well loved, and definitely well fed. As the impending demolition of the planetarium building nears, New Cat City was contacted to see if we may help contain him for rescue and indoor retirement.
He’s been diagnosed with dermatopathy on his back which was treated with clip/clean and antibiotics. Once he was treated for fleas everything seemed to resolve with his skin. We suspect it was most likely flea allergy dermatitis. FAD in cats is an allergic reaction to flea saliva, causing intense itching, hair loss, scabs, and crusty bumps (miliary dermatitis) from excessive grooming and scratching. He has underwent dental surgery with a couple of extractions of painful resorptive lesions.
Cheddar will be happiest in a home where there are no other pets or young kids. Cheddar does not prefer the company of dogs as previously observed in his former outdoor setting. Cheddar was not part of a larger feline colony, he was a lone wolf, solely receiving the attention of his feeders, rarely having to compete for food with the exception of some raccoons. At his estimated age of 14 years, this senior man will thrive as the king of his household, without having to feel any pressure of making friends with new cats or dogs. While some older cats adapt well and even thrive with a new companion, others prefer the solitude of being the only cat, and introducing a new feline could cause significant stress, especially considering that Cheddar will be adjusting to his new indoor home himself. Cheddar may take time and patience to come around, therefore will do best in a home without young children.
Cheddar is not yet completely socialized. He will take treats by hand but is not thrilled to be touched – he tolerates it.
Cheddar is currently in foster care as of 11/10/25. When he is ready we are asking for your help in placing him in the most perfect forever home. If you are interested adopting Cheddar and understand he is currently not fully socialized, please refer to application form link below. Virtual meetings may be arranged after we receive your application.

Name: Duncan
Sex: male (neutered)
Breed: domestic shorthair
Colour: black
Estimated Age: 1 year
Rescued from Feline Dystopia on: September 16, 2025
Duncan was trapped as an intact one year old living in an unfortunate location/situation. He came from a hoarding house where he lived in an inappropriate environment and was unsocialized. We intended to TNR him along with the others we’ve been finding to be intact (out of desperation to prevent more). However, Duncan seems confident and relaxed in his temporary recovery space and we believe he may have potential to be a socialized cat. We’ve also discovered he has some medical concerns that we can’t ignore now that he is here. Duncan is not shy and has been spending time right at the front of his crate instead of hiding in the house we had provided. He doesn’t mind being pet while he’s eating and he takes Churu and treats from my hand. He’s very playful and loves toys and playtime.
We would love to find Duncan an experienced foster home where he can continue learn more social skills. He’s very playful and deserves to not be crated anymore now that we’ve determined as much as we can about his personality, behaviour, and health.

Name: Ceasar
Sex: male (neutered)
Breed: domestic shorthair
Colour: black
Estimated Age: 2 years
Rescued from Feline Dystopia on: August 29, 2025
Ceasar was trapped as an intact two year old living in an unfortunate location/situation. He came from a hoarding house where he lived in an inappropriate environment and was unsocialized. We intended to TNR him along with the others we’ve been finding to be intact (out of desperation to prevent more). However, Ceasar did not wish to be returned when we tried. He seems relaxed in his temporary space and we believe he may have potential to be a socialized cat. Ceasar is from the same location as Duncan and may be related to him, such as his papa cat. He doesn’t like to be touched but is with a patient babysitter until we can sort him out.
Ceasar is in good health and uses his litter box and produces normal/healthy BMs.

Name: Tuxedo Sam aka Tuxie
Sex: male (neutered)
Breed: domestic shorthair
Colour: black and white, tuxedo
Estimated Age: 10-12 years
Rescued from Feline Dystopia on: October 26, 2024
Tuxedo Sam is a community cat who lived alongside a feral cat colony outdoors. After we became involved with this colony’s caretaking we noticed a few months in that Tuxie was quite vocal for a feral cat. His left ear was tipped. We also noticed that he spent his days staying in a small forested area away from the rest of the cats. When he vocalized, which was quite frequently, we noticed the inside of his mouth was a disaster. And we eventually noticed that he vocalized with us even after we placed food. We suspect he was asking for help.
We decided to pursue rescuing him and he was surprisingly easy to contain on our very first day attempting to trap. After approximately 45 minutes of dancing around the trap he eventually just went in, and we’ve been caring for him indoors ever since.
Tuxie’s very first vet visit was via the Toronto Animal Services feral cat clinic and we are grateful for them to examine him, viral test and run bloodwork, and give us an idea of what kind of oral problem(s) he may have. The vet had contacted us during his examination to recommend euthanasia due to his feral nature and severe oral problems combined. We had already had Tuxie for about a week and knew that his demeanour was gentle with us so we declined the recommendation and proceeded to get him dental surgery at our vet. Tuxie turned out to have broken teeth, resorptive lesions, stomatitis, and severe dental disease and had to have a full mouth extraction procedure. Once he was recovered he has been staying in a bedroom ever since, learning to be more trusting and less afraid.
Tuxie’s current disposition is very trusting with myself, Pia, founder of New Cat City. It took him close to a year to get to where we are now. He still has a tendency for flight reaction if I raise my voice to loudly near him or sometimes if I sneeze. Tuxie sometimes gets overstimulated and may swat as a result, but he has never swatted out of aggression. Tuxie is very vocal and will communicate if he needs food or attention.
Tuxie occasionally has experienced stress-related urinary and BM issues that were easily resolved with a vet visit. He is otherwise a healthy cat. He does not have any teeth. He also is suspected to have a mild condition called pemphigus that causes discolouration on his nose and crusting around his claws that we monitor since being cleaned up at the vet.
Tuxie will be happiest in a home where there are no other pets or young kids. Tuxie is incredibly fearful of new places, people, and noises. He likely will not prefer the company of dogs due to his fearfulness. Tuxie was part of a larger feline colony, but he was a lone wolf and kept solitary from the other cats. Tuxie does not get along with other cats and chases them out of his room. Tuxie will undoubtedly take time and patience to come around, therefore will do best in a home without young children. At his estimated age of 10-12 years, this senior man will thrive as the king of his household, without having to feel any pressure of making friends with new cats or dogs.
We are asking for your help in placing him in the most perfect forever home. If you are interested in adopting Tuxie please refer to application form link below. Virtual meetings may be arranged after we receive your application.

Name: Rum Tum Tugger aka Tugger
Sex: male (neutered)
Breed: domestic medium hair
Colour: black and white, tuxedo
Estimated Age: 2 years
Rescued from Feline Dystopia on: October 12, 2025
Rum Tum Tugger came from a hoarding house where he lived in an inappropriate environment and was unsocialized. He was signed over to the care of Toronto Animal Services to receive veterinary treatment, but was found to be too unsocialized to stay in their care for future adoption. He was stressed out in the shelter environment. We were fortunate to find a compassionate foster guardian for him in the short term. He was found to be in good health and is in need of rehabilitation and socialization. We may need a longer term foster for him depending on his progress.
We are asking for your help in placing him in the most perfect forever home. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Tugger please refer to application form link below. Virtual meetings may be arranged after we receive your application.
